Clara Manaud

Born in 1995, she began the bassoon at the age of 6 years old in the Conservatoire de Bordeaux and piano at 9 years old. Passionate about singing, she became a part of the Maitrise of Bordeaux which gave her the possibilities to sing regularly with the Opera de Bordeaux during her teenage years.

After finishing the Diploma of Music at 17 years old, she won the audition for the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, in the class of Carlo Colombo and Olivier Massot. In 2016 she obtained the Diplome National Superieur du Musicien. She then decided to continue a part of her Erasmus studies in Stuttgart (Germany) with Marc Engelhardt.

In May 2018 she left the CNSMD de Lyon with the Master awarded with a special mention.

She ended with the higher distinction in january 2021 as Master in Contemporary Music in the class of Dag Jensen in the Hoschule für Musik und Theater München.


Clara Manaud often play with orchestras as solo bassoon with the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Copenhagen Phil, der Gewandhaus Leipzig, der Frankfurt Oper, der Münchner Symphoniker, l'Orchestre National de Lille among others.

She also played multiple times as soloist with the Orchestre Universitaire de Grenoble.

She was remarqued during international competitions as ARD Wettbewerb, Aeolus, and she won the price of « Meilleur Talent » in the Concours Talents Classique 2018 and the Golden Medal with High distinction from the Manhattan Competition in 2019.

In May 2022 she received the Honorary Mention in the Prague Spring Competition and in July 2022 the 2nd price in the Gillet- Fox competition (USA).

She is an artist sponsorised by Safran Fondation and has a scholarship from the Adami.


Currently she is working as solo bassoon in the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
